Thomas Schmelter new GM of Intercontinental Bangkok and Regional GM Thailand

InterContinental Bangkok has named Thomas Schmelter, General Manager of its 381-room hotel located at Ratchaprasong district, Bangkok, and embedded Regional General Manager of IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), Thailand. In his new role, Schmelter will oversee the hotel operation of IHG’s 9 hotels in Thailand across all brands, based at InterContinental Bangkok.

With more than 25 years in the hospitality industry, Schmelter most recently served as Director of Operations of the IHG – Gulf States & Saudi Arabia where he was responsible for the hotel operation of 28 hotels in Qatar, Saudi Arabia & Oman.

Schmelter began his hospitality career in Germany. He later joined IHG hotels in Europe and has continued a successful career in India and throughout Asia, increasing responsibility over the years.
