Roland Svensson has been appointed General Manager of luxury Thailand boutique resort, The Sarojin.
Swedish-born, Roland brings a wealth of hospitality experience to The Sarojin, having worked with top hotels and resorts in numerous international destinations, commencing with senior Food & Beverage appointments in Dubai, Macau, Bangkok, Penang, Hong Kong and Queensland, where he was Director of Food & Beverage at Radisson Royal Palms Port Douglas for the opening in 1989 through to 1990.
Roland went on to be General Manager with Myanmar’s Novotel Mandalay and Thailand’s Royal Garden Resort Hua Hin and The Montien Hotel Bangkok, later moving to Saudi Arabia’s Le Jeddah Meridien. He returned to Thailand in 2006 as Assistant Vice-President Hospitality with Laguna Phuket before being appointed Country Manager Thailand with GlenAsia Resorts + Residences in 2007.
Prior to joining The Sarojin, Roland was with Möevenpick Hotels & Resorts from 2010 as General Manager of Thailand’s Möevenpick Resort & Spa Mae Nam Beach, Koh Samui, and Möevenpick Suriwongse Hotel, Chiang Mai and, most recently, Singapore’s Möevenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa.
“It has always been a dream of mine to manage a world-class luxury boutique resort in my adopted home country of Thailand and The Sarojin certainly fulfils that dream,” Roland said.
“I look forward to being hands-on and working with a fantastic team who offer exceptional service, which continually brings many guests back to the resort each year on holiday.”
Recalling his time working in Australia, Roland said, “Khao Lak reminds me of Port Douglas which I very much enjoyed with its fantastic beaches and seascape, amazing tropical and natural habitat, lots of great adventure sites and activities and wonderful dining experiences”.
