Omni Hotels & Resorts appoints Charlie Muller as VP of Acquisitions and Development

omnihotelslogoOmni Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Charlie Muller as the new vice president of acquisitions and development for the luxury brand. In this role, Muller will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new acquisition and development opportunities, and assist with delivering the brand’s short and long term expansion goals. He will report to Mike Garcia, chief financial officer and senior vice president, acquisitions and development.

“Charlie is a great addition to Omni, as he brings more than thirty years of hospitality and leisure experience,” said Garcia. “We had unprecedented growth last year, and his expertise and relationships will be invaluable as we continue to expand.”

Muller joins Omni from his firm Allegiant Hotel Investors. In addition to being a founder, he worked as a consultant on development, acquisitions, and new management contracts. Prior to Allegiant, he served as a managing director for Mast Capital, Inc., a value oriented real estate investment company. Previously, he spent fifteen years as chief operating officer for two of CNL Financial Group’s larger funds, including CNL Hotels & Resorts, which was the second largest hotel REIT at the time of its sale. He also oversaw CNL Lifestyle Properties, an aggregator of ski, golf, attractions, and marinas. During his time at CNL Lifestyle Properties, he worked on negotiations that led to Omni becoming the long-term operator of the historic Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, N.H.

Over the last 18 months, Omni acquired six iconic resorts from KSL Capital Partners, LLC, including Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas; Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.; Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif.; The Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C.; The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va.; and Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia in Scottsdale, Ariz. Omni also became the long-term operator of The Omni King Edward Hotel in Toronto, and acquired the Omni Providence Hotel in Rhode Island. Lastly, the brand opened the new Omni Nashville Hotel.

Muller received a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel administration from Cornell University. He is a former member of the Urban Land Institute, was a founding member of the Lodging Industry Investment Council and served on the Market, Finance and Investment Analysis Committee of the American Hotel & Motel Association.
