Benchmark Hospitality International has named Cathy Matthews-Kane club general manager for the Country Club of Colorado, located at Cheyenne Mountain Resort, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Greg Champion, Benchmark’s executive vice president and COO, made the announcement.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Cathy to Benchmark Hospitality and to the Country Club of Colorado,” said Mr. Champion. “She is exceptionally credentialed and well prepared to lead the Club to new levels of success. We’re so pleased she’s joined our team!”
Cathy Matthews-Kane comes to her new position with extensive experience in club management and golf operations. She was previously the director of membership for the Colorado Springs Country Club. Prior to this, Ms. Matthews-Kane served as assistant golf professional and membership golf professional for The Broadmoor. Earlier in her career she held the title of assistant professional at the Hole-In-The-Wall Golf Club, located in Naples, Florida.
Ms. Matthews-Kane is a graduate of Iowa State University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science. At Iowa State she was a three-time academic All-American, four-year Varsity letter winner and co-captain of the women’s golf team. She earned her Master’s in Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Ms. Matthews-Kane is also a graduate of the PGA Management Program and was the Titleist Apprentice Scholarship winner for the state of Colorado.
She is a past recipient of the Colorado PGA Assistant of the Year award and the “Top 25 Assistant Professional” award by Golf World Magazine. Additionally, Ms. Matthews-Kane has been honored as the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association’s “Employee of the Year.” Earlier this year she was awarded the “Rising Stars” award by the Colorado Springs Business Journal. A native of Newfoundland, Canada, where she initially took up golf, Cathy Matthews-Kane and her husband reside in Colorado Springs.
