La Posada de Santa Fe introduces the Luxury Collection to New Mexico

La Posada de Santa Fe, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, today became New Mexico’s first Luxury Collection hotel, joining the brand’s ensemble of 86 luxury hotels and resorts, with a celebration inspired by Santa Fe’s unique southwestern cultural influences.

“Each Luxury Collection hotel is a singular reflection of its place in the world and its place in history, and La Posada de Santa Fe perfectly represents those values, having played a major role in the evolution of Santa Fe as an art community and a tourist destination,” said Joseph Smith, founder, 1754 Properties, which owns the hotel. “When Abraham Staab built his magnificent mansion here in 1882, he did so with the intention of welcoming friends and family to this remote Southwestern outpost that he and his wife, Julia, so adored. The Staabs established a tradition of elegant hospitality that continues to guide and inspire our operations to this very day. We’re certain that by joining The Luxury Collection, La Posada de Santa Fe will be able to reach a broader audience of sophisticated travelers who will not only appreciate the authentic and original experiences that make this hotel and destination so special, but also the resort’s lush, six acre campus, luxurious spa and award-winning restaurant and bar.”

La Posada de Santa Fe, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, is situated on six landscaped, art-filled acres in downtown Santa Fe and features a curated collection of art from 40 established American artists. The resort’s 158 guest accommodations include authentic adobe casitas, originally built for visiting artists, spread throughout the campus, and guest rooms in the French Second Empire-style 1882 Staab House mansion. The resort’s spa offers contemporary and Native American style treatments.

“Starwood is thrilled to welcome La Posada de Santa Fe to The Luxury Collection brand as a hotel that is at once a portal to the rich cultural heritage of Santa Fe and a gateway to experience the city’s contemporary art, design and cuisine,” says Paul James, global brand leader, The Luxury Collection, St. Regis and W Hotels Worldwide.

In celebration of the hotel’s rich history, the afternoon’s festivities were punctuated by dance performances by a troupe of Tesuque children and a blessing from Travis Vigil, Tesuque Tribal Council Member, which was particularly special because the hotel site once was Tesuque land. The Very Reverend Peggy Patterson, Associate Priest of the Church of the Holy Faith, also blessed the hotel in tribute to Abraham Staab, who contributed generously to the building of the church.

“Santa Fe’s charm as a tourist destination and a top five arts destination in the US, is due in no small part to its one-of-a kind hotels,” said Peter Ives, mayor pro tem, city of Santa Fe. “By bringing one of the most influential brands in hospitality to Santa Fe, La Posada is once again helping to further distinguish our city as a premier southwestern destination. I could not be more pleased to welcome the Luxury Collection of hotels to Santa Fe.”
