G-Star has launched a new collection that focuses on utilitarian work wear items based on G-Star favourite designs like the Type-C. These industry specified garments will be made from specially selected fabrics that address the roles and tasks that function within various businesses. It’s authentic industry clothing for the modern professional.
G-Star RAW will open this concept with a modern kitchen wear initiative named ‘RAW Utility – Cuisine’. This collection will contain six items in different colous and fabrics to suit various restaurant functions. The uniform is designed especially for those dealing with food, adaptable for those who prepare it, cook it and serve it.
Collaboration with Sergio Herman
The collection was made in collaboration with 3-star Michelin star chef, Sergio Herman. Sergio worked with the G-Star designers to ensure that RAW Utility – Cuisine garments measure up to the hard working processes of a restaurant. The fabric is tested to work well with the operations of the restaurant staff from the head chef to the waiter.
Sergio is keen to put the fashionable work-wear to use among the staff manning his restaurants. ‘Pure C’ in Cadzand is Sergio’s hugely lauded second restaurant, but it’s his latest endeavor that is quickly gathering intrigue from the industry.
‘The Jane’ is his breakthrough project in Antwerp. It is located in the chapel of an old military hospital. The kitchen is set on the altar, the DJs play in the toilets, the interior is designed by Piet Boon and the clothes by G-Star RAW Utility.
“I’ve been a long-time fan of the brand and they think out of the box. Raw, consistent and innovative, something I always try to be. Chefs Clothing is often functional, but not necessarily very sexy!”
The RAW Utility – Cuisine collection is designed for the entire kitchen staff from waiter to chef. It is made with a durable and flame resistant work wear material that protects against harmful splashes and debris while providing breathability and easy movement. It features deep front pockets especially designed for culinary utensils and durable metal buttons stand up to frequent washes and heavy kitchen work.
