Bizarre Dining Experiences Around The World

The experienced traveler does not fear trying new foods, however weird they may be. But when it comes to crazy dining experiences, even the most worldly eater will find these restaurants bizarre.

From dining high up in the sky to submerged below water, check out these six restaurants that offer truly…unique…meals.

Dinner In The Sky

festival in the sky

You can dine while dangling thousands of feet above your favorite city. Dinner in the Sky events have been held in more than 40 countries, according to its website. A crane lifts a table seating up to 22 diners high above the city. Diners are strapped into the type of seats you'd find on a roller coaster. If you have a fear of heights, beware.

Opaque

You can dine in the dark at one of Opaque's five U.S. locations. The experience deprives you of your sense of sight in an attempt to heighten the dining experience. It's definitely one of the most bizarre dining experiences in the world.

Modern Toilet Restaurant

There is only one response to this restaurant in Taiwan: Ew. Okay, maybe the idea of eating at a toilet-themed restaurant, where toilets (closed lid) replace chairs and food is served in mini toilet bowls and soap dishes, doesn't gross you out. If you like bathroom jokes, you'll love Modern Toilet.

Ninja New York

ninja new york

There are lots of Japanese restaurants in New York City. But Ninja takes the cake for being the most… interactive. The restaurant is designed to look like a 15th century feudal village. Ninja waiters are known to sneak up on you at any time, so if you're easily frightened, watch out!

Ithaa Undersea Restaurant

ithaa

Located at the bottom of a spiral staircase that descends from the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort 16 feet below sea level, Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is a totally immersive experience. From luxe seafood to panoramic undersea views, Ithaa is totally indulgent.

Alcatraz E.R.

Our dinner table at horror/jail theme restaurant "Alcatraz" in Tokyo. 8.13.09.

If you've wondered what it's like to be in prison, but don't want to, you know, commit a crime and all that stuff, you can spend an evening dining like a convict. At Tokyo's Alcatraz E.R. diners are handcuffed and brought to their "cell" where they are served by nurse waitresses who demand you finish your food.
