On April 1, 1938, the Skål Club of North America (Skål Club of New York, No. 28) was founded. As the first Skål Club established in North America, the New York Club assisted and guided in the formation of other Skål Clubs in America. Today USA boasts clubs and has a membership of over 120 members representing Skål. Skal International President Mok Singh opened the event with the Skal toast. He also advised that September 27th is World Tourism Day marking the annual growth in tourism in the United States. The Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg sent his wishes to all Skalleagues for the commencement of the World Congress.
The Skal club of New York celebrates its 75th anniversary on the eve on the Skål World Congress. Over 600 members, guests and their families congregated at the famous New Yorker Hotel on 8th Avenue bring cheer and friendship from all corners of the world.
President of Skål Club New York Lisa Conway welcomed all Skalleagues from all parts of the globe covering all continents. President Lisa introduced her committee and thanked her team and sponsors for their support in bringing this major event together.

Carnival Glory has just berth at Pier 90 and all Skalleagues are making their way to join the ship for the commencement of the 74th Skal International World Congress. The Cruise will make its way to Nova Scotia, stopping on route at Boston, Portland, Saint John and Halifax before returning to New York.
