From exclusive use of a romantic private island to a professional photography session in a luxury Paris hotel, we look at the best luxury Valentine's Packages being offered to celebrate Valentine's Day 2013.
After staying overnight on a private yacht, couples availing of the Ultimate Valentine's Package at Six Senses Yao Noi complete their stay in the comfort of a villa.
In New York, The Surrey hotel has partnered with lingerie designer Fleur du Mal to create its ‘Ultimate Romance' package. Guests booking the package will receive a series of romantic indulgences including a complimentary silk kimono from Fleur du Mal, a rose-scented Dyptique candle, turn-down service with champagne and Dana's Bakery macaroons plus a couples massage at the Cornelia Spa; a room upgrade will be provided subject to availability. The package is valid from February 1 – 28, 2013; rates starting at $800 per night. Quote ‘FLEUR' when booking.
At the Pavillon de la Reine hotel, which faces a private courtyard on the Places de Vosges in Paris, Valentine's guests will receive a glass of champagne on arrival, accompanied by a map of the best spots to kiss in the city. Admittedly that's a pursuit that's likely to appeal to couples in the very early stages of their relationship rather than those who've been together for longer than they'd care to remember, but if you're going to Paris on Valentine's Day then conspicuous shows of romance are a requirement. Ramming the point home, guests will also receive a padlock and key, enabling them to ‘lock their love' to Le Pont des Arts bridge "as the sun sets over the Seine". The package costs from €420 per room per night, based on two sharing a superior room on a B&B basis.
The two-night Ultimate Valentine's Package at Six Senses Yao Noi in Thailand packs a lot in. Guests travel to the resort by helicopter from Phuket airport and commence their stay at the resort's Riva Yacht, where they'll dine and spend the night in a glass-ceilinged cabin. In the morning, breakfast for two will be served on a private beach. Back at the resort, the second night will be spent in the Six Senses honeymoon villa, where dinner will be served by the resort's executive sous chef. There'll be time for spa treatments too, and a champagne breakfast before departure on the third day. The package costs from £2,974 per person (THB 140,213) and is available from 14 February – 31 October 2013.
A similar package is on offer at The Sarojin in Phang Nga, Thailand. Guests at the resort can spend an evening ‘shipwrecked' on their own private island, accompanied only by a private butler and chef to cater for their needs. Prices start from THB 104,000 (approximately GBP 2,000) for two people, including six nights' accommodation in a Garden Residence, a Thai cooking class and lunch by a jungle waterfall, the private island experience and transfers.
Italy: good food, good wine, a good choice for a Valentine's break. In Basilicata, Francis Ford Coppola's hotel Palazzo Margherita is capitalising on the country's culinary calibre with a Valentine's package that follows breakfast in bed with an in-room massage and then cooking lessons where couples can learn to cook traditional Southern Italian dishes. Dinner follows afterwards, of course. The package costs from £520 (€640) a night.
The Valentine's package at Le Bristol Paris keeps things classic, offering couples a bottle of champagne, chocolates and a gift from prestigious jewellers Boucheron on arrival, along with cocktails in Le Bar du Bristol (Le Salon Castellane, the hotel's three Michelin starred restaurant will likely be a popular spot for dinner). To take things a bit further, loved-up guests staying on February 14 can have their portrait taken on site by photographer Romeo Balancourt. A professional make-up artist will be on hand to ensure everyone is picture-ready, and the image will be professionally retouched and framed. The photography sessions costs from €900 for a couple; the regular Valentine's Package costs from €815 (approx. £685) for a superior room.
Genuinely exclusive, the Valentine's Package at The Cotswold House Hotel is available for only one couple. It includes exclusive use of the spa between 6pm and 8pm – which will be lit with 100 candles – and two one-hour spa treatments. The hotel's restaurant The Dining Room will be closed to other guests as the couple enjoy a lavish three-course meal with background music provided by their very own private harpist. The duo will stay in one of the hotel's suites; the package is priced at £2013 for two.
Another enticing break on home soil is offered by Beechfield House Hotel in Wiltshire. From February 9-16, guests staying at the property for a night can avail of a package that includes champagne on arrival, a four-course dinner, breakfast and 24 hours' use of a vintage sports car – from an E-type Jaguar to an Austin Healey. The offer costs from £410 per couple.
At Raffles Hotel Singapore, the Celebrating Romance suite package includes three nights in a Palm Court Suite, personalised embroidered bathrobes, two spa treatments, a bottle of Raffles hotel's 125th anniversary Billecart-Salmon champagne, 24-hour butler service, Bentley airport transfers and a voucher for a complimentary one-night stay to celebrate the anniversary of your visit. It costs SGC5,000 per couple (approximately £2,568) and can be booked until December 31, 2013.
In Jamaica, Jamaica Inn is offering a ‘Celebration of Love' package for couples, which includes accommodation in one of their deluxe veranda suites that has a spacious outside living room with a view of the Caribbean Sea. The package provides guests with a bottle of Champagne on arrival, a full breakfast and a five -ourse dinner every day, a private candlelit dinner on the beach, a couples massage and VIP departure at the airport. The current package is available between now and 15 April 2013; five nights cost from £2700 per couple or 7 Nights cost from £3650 per couple when booked with Essential Hotel Collection.
