Cancun and Riviera Maya register increase in tourism & hotel occupancy in 2017

CancunMarketing Consultants, a company specialized in marketing and consulting, stated that Cancun received 3.7 million tourists in the first nine months of the year, which allowed the destination to reach a hotel occupancy of 82.9 percent, two points higher than what was registered in 2016.

The economic flow that each group of tourists leaves in the destination also increased in comparison to last year. This result is based on 350 surveys that allow a more precise and complete description of the behaviour of the tourist that visits Quintana Roo.

The vacation package was for 2 thousand 107 dollars in the third trimester of the year- from July to September- this was 9.1 percent higher than what was registered in the same period of time last year.

The Cancun Tourist Study has been accomplished since 1992, and since 1996 for Riviera Maya. The surveys are made in the gates of the International Airport of Cancun, when the tourist has completed their stay in the destination and has fresh memories that allow him/her to respond a survey in the best way possible, before their flight back home.
