Shinta Mani Hotels in Siem Reap, Cambodia are known for their philanthropy through their Shinta Mani Foundation and its many activities to help the less fortunate through its three pillars of education, healthcare and direct assistance.They recently introduced a programme to train and employ local blind massage therapists to work in the hotels’ spa, so they can earn a living and support themselves and their families.Ê
There are currently two blind male therapists who have been trained to do the signature oil massage, a traditional Khmer Massage and a relaxing foot massage.ÊThere is a 24-hour advance notice period to book the blind therapists.
ÒAs part of our CSR program and ongoing commitment to the local community, Shinta Mani Spa is proud to work with blind villagers in the local community who have undergone training in our spa to international standards to become qualified massage therapists,” said Indra Budiman, General Manager.ÊÒWhen you select our blind massage treatment, we will donate 50 per centÊof the proceeds of the treatment to the blind therapist to help them provide for their families.Ó
The programme has been well received and is proving popular with guests who are happy to support this wonderful initiative.ÊPrices for the treatments by the blind therapists range from USD35 to USD60, plus applicable government tax and service charge.Ê
