Reservations.com to offer travel insurance

Reservations.com has announced its partnership with travel insurance provider Allianz Global Assistance to offer a variety of travel insurance* options for Reservations.com customers. This is an extension of Reservations.com’s current offering of hotel and car rental deals across the country.

According to the U.S. Travel Insurance Association, about 30 percent of American leisure travelers purchase travel insurance, and the majority of those who don’t are only familiar with flight and trip cancellation protection and are unaware of the options for emergency medical and evacuation coverage as well as coverage for misdirected baggage.

“We wanted to create a simple and hassle-free booking experience where our customers can easily choose from different services, including travel insurance, should they need to cancel or interrupt their trip for a reason covered by their policy,” said Reservations.com Co-Founder Yatin Patel.

Patel’s partner, Mahesh Chaddah continues, “Our customers already know that they can rely on us for the best choices in hotel and car rental deals.  Now, we want to make sure they know they can purchase travel protection, not only for trip cancellation or interruption, but for coverage that includes emergency medical situations, as well as more common circumstances like baggage delay.”
