Ibiza home to most expensive beach destination in Europe

Playa d’en Bossa, the popular holiday resort on the Spanish island of Ibiza, is the most expensive beach destination in Europe this summer, according to a survey conducted by French travel website Allovoyages.fr.

The survey compared the cost of lodging at all European holiday resorts during the month of August. The results were compiled based on average rates for the cheapest available double room in each destination. Only accommodation rated at least 3 stars was considered.

At an average of €254 euros per night, Playa d’en Bossa comes top of the rankings. Positano, a cliffside village on southern Italy’s Amalfi Coast, and Oia, located on the Greek Island of Santorini, complete the podium with average rates of €243 and €242 euros, respectively.

The tiny island of Formentera, situated off the southern edge of Ibiza, ranks as the 4th most expensive destination with an average rate of €240 euros for the most affordable double room. The most expensive resort in France is Saint Tropez, which features as the 5th most expensive destination, with an average rate of €229 euros.
