Hotel marketers scramble to distinguish their properties from the rest of the pack, and nothing says you stand out from the crowd more than a Guinness Book of World Records designation.

Fortunately, size is not everything when it comes to world records. For example, for its entry into the Guinness Book of World Records, the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai at Tomorrow Square was honoured for having the world’s highest library.

The library, which has more than 2,000 books in English and Mandarin (Putonghua), is located on the hotel’s 60th floor, 230.9 meters above ground.

The Guinness Book of World Records currently presents 193 entries on hotels. A selection:
