SKAL International Australia elects new leadership

SKAL International Australia held their Annual General Meeting in Hobart, 12th March 2016 at The Wrest Point Hotel with over 100 Skalleagues and guests in attendance. With over 15,000 members and 371 clubs worldwide, SKAL is a professional organisation of tourism leaders that promotes global tourism and friendship. With over 1100 members and 22 clubs, SKAL Australia is the second largest country after USA.

Fiona McFarlane from SKAL Cairns takes over the reigns as National President, SKAL International Australia for the next two years. Fiona is the Managing Director of Gateway Media Group, a Tourism Media company specialising in Tourism Television, Tourism Maps and Digital Marketing. At 34, Fiona is the youngest person to hold this position and the second female to outgoing President Denise Scrafton from SKAL Melbourne.

Bob Lunnon from SKAL Sydney has been International Councillor for SKAL Australia since November 2014. Bob has been with SKAL since 1978 and President of SKAL Sydney whilst hosting the 2010 SKAL World Congress in Sydney. Bob is a Consultant for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and Chief Judge of the National Travel Industry Awards.

Vice President Membership from SKAL Hobart is Alfred Merse. Alfred has driven SKAL Hobart to win SKAL International Club of the Year 2015 which was presented at the World Congress in Torremolinos, Spain last year. Alfred is the Conference Sales Manager at Wrest Point Hotel in Hobart where he has held this position for 10 years.

Vice President Communications from SKAL Sunshine Coast is Joanne Skinner. Joanne recently stepped down as President of SKAL Sunshine Coast, a position she held for the last 2 years. With her husband Mark, Joanne is the Owner of Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat in Montville which specialises in Romance Amidst Sub Tropical Rainforest.

Correen Hurley from SKAL Gold Coast maintains her position as Secretary on the Executive Committee. Correen is currently a Director of Hurley’s Hospitality Services.

Ernst Krolke from SKAL Sydney South takes over the position as Treasurer and has previously held the position as National Auditor. Ernst is an executive consultant of Airport Coordination Australia.

National Auditor positions are held by Richard Condon from SKAL Whitsundays and Gary Gelenter from SKAL Sydney.

SKAL Australia Clubs hold monthly meetings at various locations while SKAL Australia meet bi-annually for their National Assemblies. SKAL International hold a World Congress annually with Monaco to host 2016.
