CEO update on Radisson Blu Hotel, Bamako, Mali

Carlson RezidorUpdate issued 29th November 2015, 18:00 CET

After the terrible attack at the Radisson Blu Hotel Bamako on 20th November, all our focus was on helping the people affected by this tragedy. Our dedicated Rezidor Support Team and the hotel owner met with our hotel team in Bamako and the families of the three employees who lost their lives. We mourned with them and offered them any emergency and long-term support needed. In cooperation with the local Embassies, our corporate teams also reached out to the families of our deceased guests and to all surviving guests who were staying with us on that sad day. Our hotlines for families and media are now closed.

Members of our Support Team are still on the ground to prepare the reopening of the hotel. We remain committed to Bamako and will open the property before year-end to bring our Yes I Can! philosophy back to Mali and to welcome our international guests again.

I am full of respect of our hotel team and Support Team. They have done an outstanding job over the past days – living our company value of “Fighting Z-pirit” and being totally committed to Radisson Blu. My heartfelt thanks goes to each and every one of them. I also want to thank all the colleagues, guests, business partners and friends who have extended their condolences and offered to help. Each single message meant a lot to us.
