In the continual challenge to keep pace with guests BYOT, is free car charging the next addition to the value-add/customer expectation?
Three Personal Luxury Resorts & Hotels® properties in California and Washington State are setting new standards in sustainability, partnering with Tesla Motors, to offer the Tesla Destination Charging Program for guests with electric vehicles. The three properties include the LEED Platinum Bardessono in California’s Napa Valley, The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe near San Diego and Willows Lodge in Seattle’s wine country.
These three Personal Luxury-brand properties join a rapidly growing network of luxury lodging accommodations in Tesla’s Destination Charging Program. Tesla partners with hotels, resorts, and restaurants around the world to offer High Power Connectors as an amenity for visitors, allowing them to charge their Tesla Model S automobile. The Model S offers 265 miles of range on a single charge so the High Power Wall Connector can easily top off the Tesla in just a few hours. Tesla High Power Wall Connectors add 58 miles of range per hour to Model S, charging the vehicle overnight and replicating the convenience Tesla owners are accustomed to at home.
“Personal Luxury properties are constantly finding new ways to heighten our guests’ green experience,” said Ted Davis, chief sales & marketing officer for Benchmark Hospitality International®, a leading US-based hospitality management company that includes the Personal Luxury brand in its portfolio of distinctive resorts and hotels. “The new partnership combines Tesla’s leading-edge technology with our commitment to service and to the environment. Personal Luxury properties have seen a growing number of requests for charging stations,” notes Mr. Davis. “We are confident that demand is going to increase as more electric cars are produced and green services and amenities become a major factor in consumer lodging decisions.”
Each Personal Luxury hotel claims an enviable record of environmental commitment in terms of land and water conservation, recycled building materials, historic preservation, organic gardens and locally sourced cuisine. Their efforts have won top environmental honors, including the coveted LEED Platinum status for Bardessono, one of only three hotels in the world honored with this designation.
All Tesla cars come with charging equipment for use in home garages and in the charging stations Tesla has positioned on Interstates throughout the US. The vehicles can travel approximately 170 miles without recharging. The process takes about 30 minutes.
