Hotel Show Dubai highlights hospitality training in lead up to Expo 2020

Increasing competition and the continuing rise in guest expectations of standards and services within hospitality are just two factors that have led The Hotel Show Dubai to give a focus on education and training at this year’s event and partnered with Glion Institute of Higher Education Switzerland (GIHE) to highlight the core principles of training and development.

With Dubai at the epi-centre of such significant hotel and hospitality growth, continuing education, staff development, retention, recruitment, HR and new training techniques are key to the sustainability of the hospitality industry in the region. Both the Hotel Show Dubai and Glion are committed to meeting the specific industry needs and opportunities afforded to the region with Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Says Christine Davidson, Event Director: “The region’s industry is set to experience unprecedented growth – more than 280,000 new jobs will be created in Dubai alone where 40% will be allocated for the travel and hospitality industry – and with it the need for ongoing training and development,” she continues.

At The Hotel Show Dubai 2014, hospitality professionals from across the world will be able to learn more about Glion’s graduate programmes (from postgraduate diplomas to fully flexible online MBAs) and additional training opportunities to meet the range of levels and experience required by the region’s hospitality industry.

Anouk Tenten, Senior Manager Global Admissions & Market Development, Glion says: “As the region’s largest hospitality dedicated exhibition, The Hotel Show Dubai is a very exciting platform for us to engage and share our knowledge and expertise in the field of hospitality education. Glion is one of the world’s top institutes for hospitality business education and we have long established relationships with hospitality companies and institutes in the region. During The Hotel Show Dubai, we will solidify this by sharing knowledge on a variety of important topics including education in a changing hospitality field, nationalisation in the Gulf and training talent as well as women in hospitality.”

And Ms Davidson adds: “Glion is ranked by international luxury hotels as one of the top three hospitality management schools in the world for an international career. We are sure that these workshops will be of great interest not only for the new generation who are trying to enter the hospitality industry, but to the established companies who are already working on 2020 and are interested in training techniques and retention strategies.”

The Hotel Show Dubai Careers and Training Networking Workshops each day at the Dubai Eye Live Launch stage provides a dedicated feature area for visitors to not only meet prospective employers, but also network with Trade Associations and Training Academies, as well as Glion.

The Hotel Show Dubai celebrates its 15th anniversary this year as a more comprehensive forum with education, content, networking, awards and features. It is now the largest and most comprehensive business-to-business event for the hospitality industry in the Middle East and Africa.
