Hilton Nay Pyi Taw recently hosted 60 students from Chindwin College Yangon and Mandalay to learn about the exciting and diverse career opportunities in the hospitality industry.
This initiative is a part of Hilton’s Open Doors commitment, which aims to positively impact at least one million young people by 2019 by connecting them to opportunities in the hospitality industry, preparing them to reach their full potential or directly employing them.

During the event, participants also heard from Founder and Project Manager of the Red Elephant Foundation and Myanmar Deaf Chef Organisation, Maurizio Mandl. My Red Elephant is a nonprofit organization that provides students with educational and vocational training, allowing them to find jobs appropriate to their skills, and consequently to lead independent lives, contributing to the support of their families. Beginning in June, Hilton Nay Pyi Taw will be collaborating with the Red Elephant Foundation in a short-term industrial training for youth with hearing loss.
According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), as many as 71 million young people are currently unemployed. As one of the world’s largest employers, the travel and tourism industry is in a unique position to open doors and create opportunities for these young people.
Careers@HiltonWeek events are a unique opportunity for Hilton to inspire job seekers about careers in the hospitality industry, and to support them by providing guidance on the skills that are vital to succeed in the workplace and beyond. Participants join Hilton for events ranging from rsum clinics to networking, as well as presentations from current employees about their career paths in hospitality.
