Eyck Zimmer new Executive Chef at andel’s Hotel Berlin

The culinary department of the 4-star superior andel’s Hotel Berlin is returning from the summer break with a new executive chef. Effective immediately, Eyck Zimmer (44) will once again take charge of the strategic and operating management of the kitchen at Berlin’s largest design hotel. After travelling 67 countries around the world, the native of Erfurt is bringing with him plenty of experience in the international hotel business and kitchens from all over the world.

Before his return to the andel’s Hotel Berlin, Zimmer, who received his culinary training at Erfurter Hof, worked as chef de cuisine in the Derby Restaurant & Bar at the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Further stations along the way include the Grand Hotel Regina in the Swiss town of Grindelwald, Choupana Hills on the Portuguese island of Madeira, and the London hotels The Dorchester, The Savoy, The Ritz and Claridges, where he cooked for the entire Royal Family, stars from the world of music, film and sports, and heads of state. Eyck Zimmer was chosen “Chef of the Year” in Portugal in 2008 and in England in 2006. He has won cooking competitions in England, Portugal, Scotland, Germany, Malta, Thailand, Taiwan, Austria and France.

Eyck Zimmer had already once served as executive chef of the andel’s Hotel Berlin from 2008 to 2010 and he’s got a few new things planned this time around. His responsibilities will include not only the cuisine of the hotel’s new restaurant, with breathtaking views over Berlin, but also the entire F&B offering, including the banquet cuisine, room service and in-house catering. “Berlin is the city of my heart and I’ve always found it exciting to immerse myself in a gastronomic concept here that reflects not only me as chef but also Berlin as a city,” Zimmer says.

General Manager Ralph Alsdorf attests: “Eyck Zimmer and his culinary signature are a valuable addition to our kitchen department. I am especially pleased that we were able to again win over Mr Zimmer for the andel’s Hotel Berlin after his stay abroad.”
