Manhattan’s most expensive neighborhoods: hotel price comparison

Lenox Hill is Manhattan’s most expensive neighborhood based on the cost of lodging there. That’s the finding of a new survey compiled by NewYorkHotels.org, which compared hotel rates for 20 New York City neighborhoods this autumn.

For each NYC district, the minimum amount, on average, a visitor will have to pay for the least expensive double room was established. The month of October, which is also the month during which hotels in New York reach their highest average rates, served as the basis of comparison. Only such hotels rated 3 stars or better have been considered for this survey.

In Lenox Hill, which is located in the lower section of the Upper East Side and on the border with Midtown Manhattan, visitors will have to pay at least $374 per night for a double room. Coming in second most expensive is the West Village, located between Chelsea and Hudson Square. An average nightly rate of $339 puts the West Village in the survey’s number two spot. Lower Manhattan’s Tribeca district rounds out the Top 3 with an average overnight price tag of $298 for the most affordable double room.

The least expensive district in Manhattan is the Financial District. There visitors can expect to find a room for $237, on average. For more affordable rooms, budget travelers will have to leave Manhattan. Around the JFK or La Guardia Airport, they should be able to find a room for less than $150 per night, according to the survey.
