Michael Ong joins Pan Pacific as VP, Growth and Development

Pan Pacific Hotels Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Ong as Vice President, Growth & Development. Based at the global headquarters in Singapore, Michael will be responsible for growing the Group’s pipeline of projects through third-party management contract strategy across the Asia-Pacific region.

A Singapore national who is bilingual in English and Mandarin, Michael brings on board more than 20 years of diverse management and business development experience with reputed hospitality, investment and banking companies. Specifically to the hotel industry, he has in-depth experience in developing strategies, deal sourcing, negotiations and closing of transactions for numerous projects in Asia.

Notably, Michael spent close to a decade with Fairmont Raffles Hotels International where he progressed through the ranks to eventually become Vice President, Development. In this role, he formulated and drove the company’s expansion strategy for the China region, successfully securing hotel management contracts in prominent Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin and Sanya.

Prior to joining Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Michael was Senior Director, Development, Asia Pacific with Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group where he was instrumental in strengthening the Group’s presence in Asia with project signings in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand and the Philippines.

Michael’s professional skills and knowledge is complemented by academic qualifications from highly accredited institutions. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Estate Management) degree from National University of Singapore and an MBA from Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Headquartered in Singapore, Pan Pacific Hotels Group currently owns and/or manages over 30 “Pan Pacific” and PARKROYAL hotels, resorts and serviced suites in Asia, Oceania and North America. The Group’s pipeline now comprises two “Pan Pacific” and three PARKROYAL properties which are scheduled to open in Myanmar, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia and United Kingdom over the next five years.
