The Kitano Hotel New York, Manhattan’s first and only Japanese-owned hotel, recently named Zack Zahran as general manager. Bringing more than 25 years of hotel management experience, Zahran will direct and supervise the day-to-day operations of the property, upholding the Kitano’s tradition of extraordinary Japanese hospitality.

Zahran hopes to expand hotel familiarity beyond overnight stays, encouraging new and loyal guests to experience all that the property has to offer. As a popular destination for travelers and NYC residents alike, Zahran plans to develop local partnerships for the Kitano that will appeal to both market sectors. With focus on food and beverage, Zahran will work to advance the culinary innovations at the Kitano’s dining outlets including the Michelin-rated Hakubai restaurant and JAZZ AT KITANO, a jazz-infused supper club located adjacent to the hotel. He also plans to broaden operations and programming for groups ranging from small weddings and special celebrations to executive meetings.

“Mr. Zahran is a master in the art of hospitality, and has proven to be a qualified hands-on manager. His leadership will further enhance The Kitano’s creative capabilities and distinct guest service,” says Kitano New York owner, Ms. Yoshiko Koike. “I am confident that his extensive knowledge of successful marketing strategies will lead to programs and campaigns that will achieve positive growth for the Kitano.”

Zahran’s management career began at The Peninsula New York where he rose through the ranks to resident manager. He then assisted in the development of The Gordon Ramsay operation at The London NYC and LA hotels. Zahran also served as general manager of the Helmsley Park Lane Hotel where he directed a complete re-construction of the property. Most recently, Zahran led an international hospitality consultancy where he provided management solutions for hotels and resorts.
