Jumeirah Group has appointed industry veteran Sven Wiedenhaupt as General Manager of Jumeirah Emirates Towers, assuming the role from Grant Ruddiman, who left the company at the end of January 2015.
Sven Wiedenhaupt joins Jumeirah from Four Seasons, where he was most recently General Manager of The Four Seasons Resort Nevis, West Indies. He brings more than 24 years of luxury hotel management experience in resorts and hotels around the world.
Sven was with Four Seasons for 10 years, having started back in 2004 as the Director of Food & Beverage in New York. In 2008, he was promoted to Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Doha in Qatar. In 2011 he transferred to Syria, where he became General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Damascus. In his earlier career, he worked for major hotel brands including Intercontinental Group and Marriott and for a number of properties in Arizona, California and Wisconsin.
German-born Sven is fluent in three languages – English, French and German – and is a graduate of Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland. Stepping into his new role, he said: “I am delighted to take on the management of Jumeirah Emirates Towers. This is not only an iconic hotel, mall and office complex, it is a smooth-running machine that delivers the very best in luxury hospitality for the business traveller and increasingly for holiday-makers keen to experience dynamic Dubai.”
