Hilton Worldwide and Hilton Hotels & Resorts have opened Hilton Chengdu, the first of the global hospitality company’s 11 hotels in the pipeline in the city of Chengdu, China. Marking the entry of the Hilton brand in the city, Hilton Chengdu is the 30th Hilton branded hotel to operate in China, and adds to Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of over 60 hotels operating in the Greater China region. Hilton Chengdu is owned by George Seaton Real Estate Co., LTD and managed by Hilton Worldwide.

Chengdu is a rapidly developing city with tremendous growth potential,” said Bruce McKenzie, senior vice president, Operations, Greater China & Mongolia, Hilton Worldwide. “In addition to having a rich cultural heritage and scenic views, Chengdu is a major transportation hub and a gateway to inland areas including the Yangtze River Delta region. The capital of Sichuan province is also a growing MICE destination and we are pleased that Hilton Chengdu has joined our portfolio as our 66th hotel in Greater China.”

Hilton Chengdu’s eye-catching architecture is courtesy of world-renowned design firm, Atkins, which was also behind high profile projects such as the development of downtown Dubai and the Eiffel Tower light displays. The hotel building is capped with crystal-like structures and at night-fall, visitors are treated to a light show put together by the same company that was responsible for the famous light displays at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. The interior of the hotel draws inspiration from the galaxy and features different lighting installations set against a lobby that boasts a three-storey high ceiling.

“Hilton is an icon in service and hospitality – proudly welcoming the world’s travelers and adapting to their needs for over 95 years. For travelers, particularly in China, we’re a brand they trust to maximize their experiences – continuously innovating and redefining modern hospitality,” said Rob Palleschi, global head, full service brands, Hilton Worldwide. “Hilton Chengdu epitomizes all of that – from the modern architectural design of the hotel, to being the first hotel with a drive-in ballroom, to having one of the highest swimming pools in Chengdu city, and the five superb destination dining outlets. We are confident that Hilton Chengdu will offer travelers visiting Chengdu from all over the world a truly remarkable international hospitality experience.”

Hilton Chengdu is located in the new CBD area of Chengdu, opposite the rapidly expanding Tianfu Software Park and close to the Century City Convention Center, which is the latest International Exhibition & Convention Center. The hotel is about 15 kilometers from Shuangliu International Airport and the Chengdu Metro Line 1 station is just 270 meters from the hotel. The line connects Hilton Chengdu to key business areas as well as entertainment and shopping districts, putting attractions such as the Wide and Narrow Alleys, Wenshu Monastery and Chunxi Road all within easy reach.

Hilton Chengdu’s 395 rooms and suites emulate Sichuan design elements while offering modern features synonymous with a world-class hotel. Rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows that frame breathtaking views of the city and combine designer décor with thoughtful guest amenities including wired and wireless internet connections, IPTV, in-room safes, ergonomically designed work spaces, as well as 42-inch LCD TVs for watching complimentary movies.

The centerpiece of the hotel’s impressive meeting spaces is a drive-in ballroom – the first of its kind in the city – which opens up a world of possibilities as a venue for memorable events. Hilton Chengdu is also a premier weddings venue, featuring purpose-built Bridal Suites, complete with floor-length mirrors and luxurious marble bathrooms to provide brides with a luxurious experience that befits their once-in-a-lifetime celebrations. Hilton Chengdu also has 14 meeting rooms with state-of-the-art technology that can accommodate both formal and informal events and gatherings.

Hilton Chengdu also offers a distinctive range of restaurants and lounges. YUXI Chinese Restaurant, which was named after the ancient Privy Seal, has 12 private dining rooms for a sophisticated and intimate dining experience. The restaurant serves a fresh and authentic blend of modern Cantonese and Sichuan dishes, including its signature Clay Baked Chicken. THE STANDARD restaurant puts a spotlight on traditional Italian fare with a wood-fired pizza oven, an open kitchen and a display case with a staggering array of hams and cheeses. Fans of al fresco dining have the option of enjoying barbequed delights at the outdoor terrace.

All-day dining restaurant, MIX, has an open kitchen concept and also features the creations of a sushi master chef, as part of a tie-up with a local Japanese restaurant. The collaboration will also have the restaurant hosting quarterly sushi-focused events such as a blue fin tuna dinner extravaganza. In addition, there is also a sushi counter at Onyx Lobby Lounge, which is a great place to unwind over cocktails or catch up with colleagues and friends over a light meal. For refreshing teas served by a kungfu tea master, guests can stop by at the Mahjong Lounge. Hilton Chengdu is proud to feature teas from across China, Japan and Europe.

Recreational facilities at Hilton Chengdu include a luxurious full service spa, a well-equipped 24-hour fitness center and a rooftop swimming pool. Perched atop the 37th floor, this is one of the most elevated swimming experiences that guests can experience in the city. Guests are also encouraged to enjoy a game of mahjong at the Chess & Card Room on the 8th floor.
