Shangri-La Hotel, Xian welcomes newly appointed Executive Chef Wei Bing Lim, who joins the hotel with distinct culinary mastery. 

In his new role, Chef Lim will oversee the hotel’s food and beverage operations, including Yi Café, Siam Garden, Tian Xiang Ge and Lobby Lounge, as well as in-room dining.

With world cuisine as his expertise, Chef Lim will cater to local taste buds while creating the best fusion of both worlds. He is definitely not a stranger to the Chinese market prior to joining Shangri-La Hotel, Xian, having previously worked at Traders Hotel, Beijing; Hotel Jen, Beijing; Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu; Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang; and Westin Singapore.

Chef Lim was born and raised in Malaysia.  At an early age, he had a passion for food and knew there wasn’t anything more he wanted than to become a chef.

“I am honoured to take up the reins of the three restaurants and supervise the hotel’s culinary offerings.  I will pull out all the stops to make Shangri-La Hotel, Xian, a shining landmark on the Xianease and international gastronomic scene.  I really want our guests to have a unique experience at our restaurants,” he said.

Through vast experience gained from top restaurants and hotels around the world, Chef Lim has had the opportunity to cook for such notable people as US Vice President Biden during his visit in China.  He cites quality products and proper cooking methods as the key elements to serving good quality food.

“Chef Lim has an extensive knowledge of the kitchen and an acute sense for food preparation,” said,Jean-Philippe Jacopin, general manager.  “With a passion for food and experience in many different cuisines, we look forward to having Lim on our culinary team.”
