Eli Maor appointed Hotel General Manager, W Tel Aviv

Eli MaorSet to open in the beginning of 2017, the W Tel Aviv-Jaffa Hotel and Residences has announced the appointment of Eli Maor as General Manager, bringing over 25 years of hospitality experience to the hotel.

As a former General Manager of a number of internationally renowned hotel brands, Mr. Maor brings vast experience in luxury and lifestyle hospitality to the newest property in the W portfolio. Most recently, Mr. Maor was the CEO of the Ella Group and the recognized five-star hotel Mamilla in Jerusalem, which he managed for six years since its grand opening in 2009.

Prior to Mamilla, Eli gained extensive knowledge and experience with Starwood hotels, dedicating over 18 years to its Jerusalem and Eilat locations.

Launching his career as a security officer in 1988 at the Sheraton Plaza Hotel in Jerusalem, Mr. Maor spent 11 years working at the hotel rising through various positions. In 1999 Mr. Maor moved to Eilat where, over the course of ten years, he held different management positions including Assistant Manager at the Sheraton Hotel and General Manager at the Ambassador Hotel.

Alongside his professional background in the hospitality industry, Mr. Maor is an active marathon runner and passionate sportsman, having competed in three world-class Iron Man Triathlons.

Located in the popular tourist destination and World Heritage Site of Old Jaffa, the W Tel Aviv is situated in the refurbished former School of the Sisterhood of St. Joseph and the 19th century French Hospital building. The restoration began three years ago under the stewardship of world-renown British architect John Pawson, and Ramy Gill Architects and a team of dozens of restoration experts.

In transforming the 19th century French Hospital into an exclusive W-branded property, the experts have preserved the historic building giving it new life with 32 residences and a 127 room hotel including an Away Spa, signature restaurant, courtyard, fitness centre, Lounge Bar, and outside deck with pool.
