Hilton Orlando near convention center names new general manager

Chris Mueller The Hilton Orlando near the Orange County Convention Center has named Chris Mueller as its new General Manager.

Mr Mueller, who was with the hotel leadership team since its opening in 2009, now will oversee the daily operations of the 1,417-room hotel/convention resort and its growth. Prior to working at Hilton Orlando, Mr Mueller was the Catering and Convention Services Director at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and the Yacht & Beach Club Resort, and has held additional positions at several Disney restaurants and resorts since 1991.

ÒChris’ passion for the hotel was palpable over the past four months while serving as the interim General Manager,Ó said Keith Clampet, Hilton Worldwide Senior Vice President of Operations, in a prepared statement. ÒWe are confident that the hotel will continue to surpass leadership and revenue goals with Chris at the helm.Ó

Mr Mueller’s background includes a bachelor’s degree in Hotel Restaurant and Tourism Administration from the University of South Carolina, as well as serving on Orange County Convention Center’s 20-year visioning committee, International Drive board, and Executive Transportation committee board.

The Hilton Orlando is one of the busiest convention hotels in the I-Drive convention district. The property is connected via elevated walkways to the Orange County Convention Center and often is used as the main host hotel for trade shows at the center.

Area hotels and the convention center help boost Orlando’s $60 billion tourism industry, the region’s largest economic driver which last year drew a record 68 million visitors and which supports thousands of local jobs.
