RoamBOOST hires project managers to ‘boost’ expertise in the field

roamboost logoRoamBOOST has announced it has hired Frank Leon from Coral Gables, Fla., and Shane Dorval from Portland, Maine, as Field Project Managers. The two will expand RoamBOOST’s presence in the field by providing engineering expertise and management capabilities to oversee new installations, as well as service for existing distributed-antenna system (DAS) customers.

The RoamBOOST DAS uses a network of bi-directional antennas that are placed strategically inside a hotel (in corridors, common areas and meeting spaces) or outdoor across recreational areas (such as pool, golf courses, tennis courts, etc.) to address signal strength issues – or lack of a signal altogether. The system proactively removes any obstacles that could potentially interfere with 3G mobile calls or 4G data transactions. In this passive DAS environment, the system works by taking an existing mobile signal and amplifying it throughout problem areas of a hotel. The solution can target specific areas as small as 5,000 square feet up to entire multi-site, multi-story properties. For larger installations, RoamBOOST would work in an Active DAS environment, which connects the building directly to the carriers’ signal source.

Leon, who has specialized in wireless-communication platforms for nearly 20 years and DAS for 13, said he is excited and ready to help RoamBOOST expand its position in the wireless communications market, bringing his sales, project management and engineering expertise to the position. Leon assumed his post on April 1.

“I have worked with RoamBOOST for years as a vendor and had a good experience working with its employees,” Leon said. “When they approached me about a job opening and requested that I apply, I was flattered and thrilled. I believe RoamBOOST is just beginning to recognize its potential, and I can’t wait to further its reputation for excellence in the market.”

Dorval, a former rocket-science intern, brings design, construction and activation of in-building and outdoor distributed-antenna systems throughout the Northeast. His experience in managing projects will provide RoamBOOST customers the confidence that their projects will be ready on time and on budget.

“I have worked in all areas of DAS, from survey and design to installation, but it’s my experience in design that I believe will help set RoamBOOST apart in the market,” he said.

Hiring Dorval and Leon as field project managers is a real boost for the company, as both bring a level of expertise to RoamBOOST’s field project management that other companies lack. Leon’s wealth of project management and sales experience in DAS is a huge asset to RoamBOOST projects and the site surveys he performs. As an RF engineer, Dorval has technical certifications in IBWave and other signal measurement tools. His strong project management background will prove valuable to customers.

RoamBOOST will be attending HITEC June 21 to 23 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Hoteliers looking for a DAS to enhance guests’ experiences should visit RoamBOOST in Booth 337.

“Whether you’re a prospective client, vendor or just someone interested in cool technology, the RoamBOOST team is a group of people with whom you must connect,” Dorval said. “Our vision, technical knowledge and friendliness will instill in you the understanding that RoamBOOST is the top DAS player in the industry. Come by — you will be glad you did.”
