The destinationÑwhich stretches over 25 million square feet, or the size of 420 football fieldsÑ is home to over 50 retail and dining outlets, more than 100 rides and attractions, and 15,000 LEGO model structures made from over 60 million LEGO bricks.

Adding to more than just the entertainment appeal of this leading-edge global city, Dubai’s world-class theme park resort destination is expected to attract 6.7 million ticketed visitors in 2017 and create more than 4,000 jobs. The destination already has invigorated the UAE property market, boosting long-term economic appeal for international investors.

To bring the incredible attractions to fruition, CH2M partnered with Dubai Parks & Resorts, LLC and other theme park master planners to support the master plan development with site-wide services including:

  • Leading a first-of-its-kind in Dubai traffic impact assessment which based trip generation for theme parks on attendance figures rather than built up area;
  • Conducting water sourcing feasibility studies and modeling for the 62-acre lake to find a conceivable water sourcing option for the parks; and
  • Delivering earthworks grading and infrastructure design, and providing project and design management.

Phase 2 plans for the destination, which invites visitors to “Experience Amazing,” include constructing a theme park, with world-record-breaking roller coasters. Dubai Parks & Resorts, LLC recently appointed CH2M to deliver the in-park and resort-wide infrastructure and traffic services. The theme park, which will be operated by Six Flags from the U.S., is set to open in 2019.
