Hilton welcomes four new properties to Hawaii in 2016

hiltonThe Hilton Worldwide portfolio in Hawaii spans four Hawaiian Islands – the Big Island of Hawaii, Oahu, Maui and Kauai. Like colors of the rainbow, the islands are host to an equally diverse group of corporate-owned, managed and franchised Hilton, Doubletree, Waldorf Astoria Resort and Hilton Garden Inn properties, including the Hilton brand’s largest campus, Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort.

This year, Hilton Hawaii is nearly doubling the number of hotels in the region, from six properties on three islands to 11 on four islands.

Hilton Garden Inn celebrated the grand opening of the brand’s new Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay in June and days later, the Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Beach opened on Oahu.  With the opening of these two properties, the brand is now represented in all fifty states. The largest is the Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Beach with 623 guest rooms and suites.

In late September, the Grand Naniloa, a DoubleTree Hotel, opened in Hilo Bay on Hawaii Island. The Grand Naniloa will be the first global brand to have a presence in the area in decades and the second DoubleTree in Hawaii. The historic town of Hilo is the gateway to Volcanoes National Park and the new property will provide easy access for visitors to explore the park and witness active volcanoes.

As the West Oahu town of Kapolei continues its expansion, new hotels are being developed to house visitors who venture to this side of the island. In late September, Hampton Inn and Suites Kapolei opened at the new Ka Makana Ali’i Mall. When completed later this year, the 1.4 million square foot mall will offer Hawaii residents and visitors approximately 150 shops and restaurants, a luxurious movie theater and two hotels including Hawaii’s first-ever Hampton Inn and Suites.

Hilton first ventured into the Hawaii market in 1961 when the former Hawaiian Village Hotel was branded Hilton Hawaiian Village. As tourism grew is the islands, so did Hilton with the addition of Hilton Waikoloa Village (1992), DoubleTree Alana Waikiki Beach Hotel (2004), Grand Wailea (2006), Embassy Suites Waikiki Beach Walk (2006) and Hilton Waikiki Beach (2006).

Hilton Grand Vacations Club has also expanded in the region, with Kings’ Land Phase III opening recently and The Grand Islander on Oahu slated to welcome its first guests in March of 2017. HGVC vacation ownership also includes the HGVClub at the Lagoon Tower, Kalia Tower and the Grand Waikikian at Hilton Hawaiian Village. On Hawaii Island, resorts at Waikoloa Beach Resort include the Bay Club, HGVClub at Waikoloa Beach Resort, Kohala Suites and King’s Land. In 2013, Hokulani by Hilton Grand Vacations opened in the heart of Waikiki at the entrance to Waikiki Beach Walk.
