With a worldwide portfolio of more than 370 hotels, the Spanish group Meliá Hotels International opened a new hotel that belongs to its Innside by Meliá design and lifestyle brand.

The new four-star superior hotel with 177 rooms and suites is located at the corner of Dittrichring and trendy Gottschedstraße. Opposite the famous St. Thomas Church, the hotel complex is a homogenous architectural ensemble that consists of two historical buildings and a modern glass roof structure integrating two palace buildings. In addition, an entire new structure was erected in between the bank and the Kosmos building that brought the facade of Schlobach Palais back to the cityscape. The facade was designed by the architect Arwed Rossbach in the middle of the 19th century boasting extensive front decorations with its six-foot stone sculptures.

Following the unique design concept of the Innside by Meliá upscale brand, the stylish residence for business and individual travellers combines an architectural style that  blends into the cityscape with elegant-purist ambience resulting in a synthesis of the past and the modern age. With their modern furnishings and partly floor-to-ceiling windows, the rooms, designed in monochrome colours that match the classy wood look of the floors, have eye-catching accents thanks to effective indirect lighting. All rooms and suites offer king or queen-size beds, adjustable air conditioning, a 40-inch LED television set, a free soft drink minibar, free WiFi, desks including a media hub and high-speed Internet access, as well as open bathroom concepts with a rain shower.

The hotel provides a special highlight on the fourth floor for sophisticated guests: the “Balcony Suite”. The suite’s own private 50 sqm balcony offers a breathtaking view of St. Thomas Church. With its separate living room and 85 sqm of floor space, this suite is particularly popular among event managers as it can also be booked as an exclusive conference room or a location suitable for private dinners.

Three flexibly combinable meeting rooms fully equipped with state-of-the-art media technology, provide full climate control and daylight on a total area of 250 sqm, complementing the hotel’s conference capabilities. Those who want to keep fit or relax at the end of a working day during their trip can work out in the fitness area equipped with the latest fitness devices and afterwards relax in the sauna including a relaxation room.

SYNDEO lobby and gastronomy concept

Business travellers who stay at a hotel today expect more than just a quick Internet connection or an interior that concentrates solely on functionality. Kai Lamlé, Managing Director Germany at Meliá Hotels International and Area Vice President Meliá Hotels & Resorts EMEA, is conscious of frequent traveler’s needs: “They want to combine business and leisure time, and also look for personal and creative services at the hotel as well as a mixture of trendy ambience, entertainment and a communication hub. Innside Leipzig meets these current expectations with its hybrid SYNDEO concept, which is also open for non-hotel guests and represents a new type of restaurant within the hotels of the Innside brand.”

The term SYNDEO is derived from the Greek word for “establishing connections” and reveals the concept’s true goal. On approximately 800 sqm, the areas, visually separated by differing shapes of furniture, create a symbiotic unit as well as seamless transitions between reception and lobby, bar and restaurant, and the open courtyard. At SYNDEO, large tables equipped with media hubs – so-called “communal tables” – become new venues for both locals and guests. Here, people meet, work side by side, or maybe enjoy a business lunch at the buffet. In the medium term, the hotel also wants to offer a take-away option as well as a deli counter.

SYNDEO’s culinary range turns out to be just as cosmopolitan and modern as Innside by Meliá’s brand concept. The à la carte restaurant, the lobby bar and the lounge together with the atrium terrace offer a varied international crossover cuisine. This includes grilled dishes, as well as “food-to-share”, minor snacks for sharing and joint enjoyment. Select wines and cocktails complement the assortment of food. A music program based on the time of day, local DJs and live acts or movie classics on a big screen in the atrium courtyard ensure atmospheric background and entertainment.

Kai Lamlé is convinced that “the Innside by Meliá opened at exactly the right time. It goes perfectly with Leipzig’s current self-confidence and its dynamic development. As an exciting synthesis of history and avant-garde, the new hotel hotspot ideally integrates into the trade fair city. It is our goal to enrich Leipzig’s hotel landscape with lifestyle, design and Spanish flair. We want to present the perfect address for modern hospitality to international travelers as well as Leipzig citizens in equal measure.”

With Innside by Meliá Leipzig, the Mallorca-based hotel chain once more underlines its commitment in Germany, the group’s second-largest European market, where it is present with 26 hotels, among the thirteen Innside hotels. The Innside by Meliá brand was originally developed in Germany and has been part of Meliá Hotels International since 2007. It is one of Meliá’s most successful and strongest expanding city hotel brands on a global level. Innside stands for purist elegance, modern orientation and avant-garde flair. Moreover, 20 new Innside hotels will open across the world by 2019. The most recent additions are located in Manhattan, Aachen and Leipzig.
