AccorHotels has announced the expansion of the MGallery by Sofitel brand with the opening of Hotel Paris Bastille Boutet in the French capital’s 11th district – a hip and bustling neighborhood home to new shops, restaurants and nearby Le Marais – and Hotel Santa Teresa in the cultural and historic heart of Rio de Janeiro.
Hotel Paris Bastille Boutet, Paris
The first five-star hotel in Eastern Paris allows guests to take a historic journey into industrial elegance within the heart of the Bastille neighborhood. The Hotel Paris Bastille Boutet is housed in a building that was first a joinery workshop and then a chocolate factory known as “Maison Boutet.” Architect Vincent Bastie and designer Astrid Dieterlen have created a must-stay address for those in the know, conceived as an elegant starting point for a Parisian escapade as well as a haven of calm in a district known for its energy and life.
In order to protect the authenticity and spirit of the building that houses Hotel Paris Bastille Boutet, a special emphasis was placed on the renovation of mosaics and the art deco canopy. The building’s façade, dating back to 1926, has been restored to its former glory, while its industrial heritage spreads into the farthest recesses of the hotel, from the lobby bar with leather sofas, to the wellbeing area with white and blue glazed tiles. The hotel offers a charming setting to enjoy its famous gourmet hot chocolate, fashioned as a nod to its past as a chocolate factory.
Hotel Paris Bastille Boutet welcomes travelers with 80 rooms and suites. Paying homage to the hotel’s past as a place of craftsmanship, students from the École Boulle, an advanced public school of fine arts and crafts and applied arts, were selected to produce two signature suites, each with its own special atmosphere. At the heart of the hotel, the 1,600-sq. ft., light-drenched Décléor Spa is dedicated to meditation and relaxation. Guests can take advantage of the indoor pool with jets, steam room, sauna, and two hydrotherapy showers. The spa menu includes standout offerings such as the signature invigorating Cocoa Oil Treatment with its antioxidant effects, and massages and scrubs from the prestigious aromatherapy specialist Décléor.
Hotel Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro
The first MGallery by Sofitel in Brazil, Hotel Santa Teresa, is located in the historic, bohemian and artistic heart of Rio de Janeiro. The property showcases superb architecture preserved by the neo-modernist and eclectic colonial culture of Rio, and offers guests convenient access to a great diversity of cultural centers, museums and ateliers. The hotel offers guests breathtaking views of the “Marvelous City.” The revitalization of the surrounding neighborhood began a decade ago with the restoration of Hotel Santa Teresa, helping to support sustainable and cultural tourism to the destination.
Guests and locals looking for fine gastronomy will find it at Tereze, the signature restaurant of Hotel Santa Teresa. The Argentinian Executive Chef Pablo Ferreyra, who was awarded five forks by Michelin Guide to Brazil 2015, creates a refined menu to match the decadent property. The restaurant offers panoramic views of Guanabara Bay and contemporary flavors from the best of Brazilian cuisine. Even more famous is the hotel’s lounge, Bar dos Descasados, located under antique and rustic arcs.
The momentum for the brand continues this summer with the openings of Palazzo Livorno MGallery by Sofitel in Tuscany expected this summer, and Leicester Square MGallery by Sofitel in London expected to open fall 2016.
