Hilton Worldwide and Providence Hospitality Partners have announced that construction has started on a new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in downtown Greeley, Colorado. The new six-storey, 147-room DoubleTree by Hilton Greeley hotel and conference center will be located on the former site of the city’s Lincoln Park Library, municipal court and Fire Station No. 1. The hotel will feature a full-service restaurant, pool, and 14,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, which includes a 12,000-square-foot ballroom.
Scott Ehrlich, spokesman and member of the hotel’s investment group, said “We think there’s going to be a lot of business coming to town that we’re currently losing. Not hotel business — I’m talking about conventions, banquets and events of that nature, which will embrace the meeting and conference space. We currently think the need is there, and we’re getting great response from a lot of people that say, ‘good, we can come to Greeley, and we’ll have a facility where we’ll be able to have our event.’”
Denver-based Providence Hospitality Partners will operate the hotel, which is expected to open in summer 2017.
To commemorate the occasion, local city officials, representatives from Providence Hospitality Partners, Hensel Phelps Construction and Hilton Worldwide gathered to mark the start of construction with a ceremonial groundbreaking. Guests were invited to a reception following the ceremony at the Union Colony Civic Center and were treated to commemorative tins of DoubleTree’s signature warm chocolate chip cookies.
“With the revitalization of downtown Greeley underway, introducing a state-of-the art convention space and hotel rooms will be key to growing the city’s capacity to attract conventions and large scale business,” said David B. Storm, President & CEO, Providence Hospitality. “Hilton Worldwide is recognized globally as a hospitality leader and we felt its full service DoubleTree by Hilton brand would be the ideal partner to bring to the Greeley area.”
DoubleTree by Hilton Greeley will be the first DoubleTree hotel in the area joining two other Hilton hotels already open, Homewood Suites by Hilton Greeley and Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton Greeley.
“We are excited to introduce the DoubleTree by Hilton brand to the Greeley community,” said Dianna Vaughan, Senior Vice President and Global Head, DoubleTree by Hilton and Curio – A Collection by Hilton. “With the Union Colony Civic Center next door and the Historic Lincoln Park across the street, this is an ideal location for business and leisure guests, who will be able to experience our first-class accommodations and award-winning service starting with our signature warm chocolate chip cookie at check-in and continuing with our full suite of amenities to make guests feel at home.”
In addition to the warm chocolate chip cookie welcome, guests will enjoy other DoubleTree by Hilton brand amenities, including an assortment of gourmet in-room tea and coffee choices from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, the refreshing London-based Aroma Actives natural skin and body care line, and an industry-recognized service culture built around the idea of CARE, which stands for Create a Rewarding Experience for guests, team members and the community.
