Rotana to manage five new hotels in Oman

Coinciding with the celebrations of the Sultanate’s 45th National Day, Golden Group of Companies and Taameer Investment SAOC signed an agreement on Monday 9 November 2015 to build one of the largest Hotels chain in alliance with Rotana group in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah.

Rotana MuscatGGC and Taameer Investment are considered among the leading investment companies in the Sultanate of Oman. The signing ceremony was held in Jibreen hall at Muscat Intercontinental Hotel under the patronage of HE / Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrazi, Minister of Tourism and in the presence of a host of ministers, heads of state authorities, undersecretaries, a number of heads of the diplomatic corps in the Sultanate of Oman, Group of leading businessmen of Omani and GCC companies, editors of a number of local newspapers, representatives of media organizations, consultants and Chief Executives of many Omani companies.

The signing of this agreement is the largest of its kind for a hotel chain in the Sultanate of Oman, targeting the major cities like Muscat, Sohar and Salalah. The project is a part of an ambitious strategy of GGC and Taameer Investment SAOC for expansion and formulating partnership in hospitality sector with global operators in line with the steady growth witnessed in the Sultanate over the past years. The new hotels comprise approximately 1,500 hotel rooms over the next five years in these major cities in various categories of Five, Four and Three Star. This will strongly push the pace of tourism development in the Sultanate, support and promote the tourism sector, inbound and internal tourism and business services. This is also a strong sign of confidence in Omani hospitality sector by international hotel management companies such as the renowned Rotana hotel group and confidence of the Omani private sector represented by GGC and Taameer in the hospitality and hotel sector in the Sultanate.

In this occasion, Sheikh Salim bin Ahmad Al Ghazali, GGC & Taameer Chairman said: “We are happy with this strategic alliance and signing the agreement with Rotana Hotel Management Company, which reflects a roadmap for our hotel investments in hospitality, tourism and travel industries in the coming stage”.

Suleiman bin Masood Al Harthi, Taameer CEO stated that: “The construction of hotels like the Wave Muscat Hotel and Shaza Salalah Hotel & Spa is part of GGC & Taameer investing in this industry due to the steady growth and rapid increase in demand for 3/4/5-star hotels & hotel apartments. Signing the agreement with Rotana coincides with the operation of Salalah International Airport and completing the main stages in the expansion of Muscat International Airport, which shall create a qualitative leap in the number of flights coming to the Sultanate. This requires doubling residence and hotel service.”
