The property is steeped in history: from the day it was built in 1528 as the Mermaid Inn, humbly brewing beer and cider for the people of Windsor, through to the first of the eight Royal Warrants awarded to the hotel in the 1700s to provide horses and carriages for the royal household – to the 19th century when Castle Hotel was unrivalled as the finest place to stay for miles around.

Initially built on the site of the Sherborne Spa and named after Queen Victoria, Queens Hotel opened to the public on the day of the Queen’s coronation in 1838.
The minute guests pass through the hotel doors, their breath is taken away by opulent design and intricate attention to detail. The historic wallpaper, designed by Augustus Pugin and famous for adorning the Palace of Westminster, Pugin’s most famous project, dovetails perfectly with the hotel’s tastefully contemporary decor.
