InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of a dual branded hotel development in Munich, Germany. The two hotels – Holiday Inn Munich City – East and Holiday Inn Express Munich City – East will operate under a franchise agreement with Primestar Hotel Group.
Due to open in early 2018, the hotels are located within walking distance from Berg am Laim S bahn Train Station. The hotels are also just a fifteen minute journey away from the city centre and Munich International Airport, allowing for a short commute for fair goers and business travellers.
The 189-room Holiday Inn Express Munich City – East hotel will be a ‘next generation’ Holiday Inn Express hotel, featuring the latest technology, an Express Café and Bar and larger cosier beds in the rooms. The new guest experience has been developed with industry-leading experts to meet the changing needs of today’s ‘smart traveller’ who seeks a short stay hotel experience that is efficient and uncomplicated.
Meanwhile the 118-room Holiday Inn Munich City – East hotel will feature the brand’s signature Open Lobby, as well as state-of-the-art conference facilities with multi-functional meeting rooms, an all-day dining restaurant and bar, as well as a gym and sauna.
With both hotels in the same building, the dual branded model allows for operational efficiencies through shared team members and facilities such as meeting space, leisure and fitness facilities and back of house areas.
Martin Bowen, Associate Vice President of Development, Germany, IHG said: “Dual branded properties are relatively new in Germany and we are leading the field in this area. They’re attractive for hotel investors because of the significant cost savings and operating efficiencies; and they give guests a choice of two great hotels in the one location depending on their needs. This is an exciting time for IHG in Germany as we continue to grow a pipeline of quality hotels here with our portfolio of preferred brands.”
Wolfgang Gallas, Managing Director, Primestar said: “We’re delighted to have signed our first dual branded property with IHG. With two hotels we can appeal to a wider pool of guests; and the full suite of food and beverage and meetings services offered at Holiday Inn complements the Holiday Inn Express service offer perfectly. We’re confident this fantastic combination, coupled with the hotels’ great location; will make these two hotels the number one choice for business and leisure guests travelling to Munich.”
IHG plans to double the number of hotels in Germany either open or in the pipeline over the next five years. IHG currently has the largest active development pipeline in Germany’s branded hotel market with more than 4,400 rooms*.
