Hampton by Hilton continues its expansion in Mexico by announcing the opening of Hampton Inn by Hilton Merida – located in the largest city and capital of Mexico’s State of Yucatán. The new-build, 130-room hotel managed by Hilton Worldwide joins the global brand of more than 2,000 mid-priced Hampton Inn by Hilton, Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton hotels.
“We are excited to bring Hamptonality to the historical and recreational city of Merida,” said Phil Cordell, global head, Focused Service and Hampton by Hilton Brand Management, Hilton Worldwide. “We are focused on Hampton by Hilton’s continued expansion worldwide and this latest addition to our brand portfolio provides our guests a comfortable and convenient option in this beautiful city.”
Strategically located in the heart of the city’s business district, Hampton Inn by Hilton Merida is across the street from the Siglo XXI Convention Center, surrounded by many national and global company headquarters as well as government offices. The hotel is also near Paseo de Montejo North, a 19th century boulevard inspired by French designs similar to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, lined with lush trees and elegant mansions from the period. Ideal for a stroll back in time, the area offers dining, museums and colonial period original architecture blending Mayan ancestral times with Yucatan modern- day living. Just 25 minutes from the international airport, Hampton Inn by Hilton Merida is an ideal destination for both leisure and business travelers.
“This Hampton Inn by Hilton in the vibrant city of Merida brings one of Hilton Worldwide’s award-winning brands to a new destination, furthering our goal to continue expanding throughout Mexico and Latin America,” said Tom Potter, senior vice president, Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America, Hilton Worldwide. “With its culturally impressive offering and the safe surroundings the Yucatán is known for, Merida is an ideal location for our newest hotel in Mexico.”
With a contemporary design combining light fresh and earth tone color palettes, Hampton Inn by Hilton Merida welcomes travelers with an array of amenities including complimentary Wi-Fi, complimentary shuttle transportation within a four mile radius, state-of-the-art 24-hour fitness center, 3,000 square feet of flexible event space across eight meeting rooms, and a 24-hour business center. The new hotel also features the Perfect Mix Lobby, designed as an extension of the guestroom with a variety of seating and lighting options for both leisure and business travelers. Hampton by Hilton Merida offers free daily Hampton’s On the House hot breakfast featuring local fare, a private dining room and a trendy bar for a relaxing beverage.
Known as “The White City” due to the color of the city’s older colonial casonas (houses) and its cleanliness, Merida is a cultural haven. Designated an American Capital of Culture for the year 2000, the city is home to an array of museums, art galleries, theaters, restaurants and shopping, complemented by the city’s colonial architecture and vibrant ambiance. Visitors to Merida can also enjoy a day trip to the archeological site of Chichén Itzá, one of the most visited sites of Mexico.
