Aloft opens in Miami’s South Beach

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced the opening of Aloft South Beach. Located in Miami Beach, Florida, the adaptive re-use Aloft hotel features 235 loft-like rooms in a lakefront setting. Developed by JMH Development and Madden Real Estate Ventures and managed by Sage Hospitality, Aloft South Beach has transformed the 1960’s-era Motel Ankara and includes a new eight-story tower.

Aloft_South_Beach_“Aloft South Beach is an exciting, new addition to the brand’s rapidly growing global portfolio, and we expect it will quickly emerge as a local hotspot with its urban design aesthetic, tech-forward mind-set and live music performances,” said Brian McGuinness, Global Brand Leader, Specialty Select Brands for Starwood. “As the fastest growing brand in the history of hospitality, Aloft continues to generate demand in key markets worldwide, and we look forward to continuing the momentum as we near the 100th hotel milestone later this summer.”

“We’re delighted to open this unique, stylish Aloft hotel in South Beach,” said Jason Halpern, principal in JMH Development, who has a track record of restoring historic structures. “Through this project, we were able to breathe new life into a historic South Beach building while simultaneously creating an aesthetically appealing new hotel in an unbeatable location.”

“Aloft South Beach will become a favorite of both travelers and locals,” said Mitchell Hochberg principal of Madden Real Estate Ventures. “The W XYZ bar, the pool overlooking Lake Pancoast, and the outdoor roof deck lounge create a unique fun environment that captures what South Beach is all about.”
