Outrigger Resorts has acquired the AKARYN Koh Samui Resort and Spa, which has been rebranded as the Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort. The deal closed on 29 May 2015 for an undisclosed sum. The resort remains fully open for business as an Outrigger Resorts.
Outrigger has retained the vast majority of staff at the boutique all-pool suite and villa property, which is located on a 300-metre secluded sandy cove called Hanuman Bay in northeast Samui, 10 minutes from the island’s airport.
The new Outrigger in Koh Samui has 52 keys comprising 27 Garden Pool Suites (80 sqm), 18 Garden Pool Villas (100 sqm), 4 Ocean View Pool Suites (80 sqm), and 3 Ocean Front Pool Suites (80 sqm).
“The acquisition of this stunning boutique property in Koh Samui complements other recent acquisitions by Outrigger in Phuket, Mauritius, the Maldives and Fiji,” said Darren Edmonstone, Outrigger Managing Director, Asia Pacific. “Outrigger is on a journey to become the premier beachfront resort brand in the world. Koh Samui is a wonderful addition to that absolute beachfront portfolio.”
Edmonstone said that Outrigger plans to make enhancements to the property’s public areas, arrival experience, villas and landscaping.
Effective immediately, Rory Campbell has been appointed General Manager of the Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort. Campbell was formerly the Director of Sales & Marketing at the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort. Campbell has extensive senior executive experience at hotels in Australia, Hong Kong and Spain, including the Anantara Bophut Resort and Spa in Koh Samui.
“Our acclaimed ‘Outrigger Way’ style of management will be much in evidence at Samui,” said Campbell. “Expect delicious beachfront fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere, a full Navasana Spa experience, and a wide range of quality excursions that celebrate the best of Samui including the wonderful Ang Thong national marine park.”
The Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort has five food and beverage outlets and a full range of services and facilities that travellers would expect at a premier boutique resort.
Koh Samui is located in the Gulf of Thailand, with direct flights linking it to Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, and internationally to Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Singapore and Kunming.
