The Aloft Taipei Beitou, set to open in January, is pleased to announce Calvin Lou as General Manager of the city’s most tech-forward and innovative hotel. With a career spanning more than a decade in and around Taipei, Mr. Lou is uniquely positioned to elevate the innovative Aloft brand and ensure an optimal guest experience.
Set to debut in January 2017, the Aloft Taipei Beitou is the city’s newest, hippest hotspot with 292 rooms conveniently located just steps from the district’s famous hot springs and two MRT stations that can whisk guests to Taipei’s downtown area and attractions.
Mr. Lou arrived at Aloft Taipei Beitou in April 2016 as the General Manager for the anticipated opening. The Taiwanese native – who used to serve as butler to the world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma – utilized his leadership skills and valuable operational experience to lead the opening team, setting up the systems for every aspect of the hotel operations, from food and beverage to service standards.
Mr. Lou joined the Starwood Family in 2014 as the hotel manager for the Four Points Sheraton Taipei Zhonghe. Prior to this, he was Director of Rooms at the RSL Cold & Hot Springs Resort Suao, where he helped the resort garner prestigious service awards for three consecutive years from the SGS Group and Global View magazine. Prior to this, he was a Director at Villa 32, the upscale hot springs hotel in Beitou.
Mr. Lou launched his hospitality career in 2003 at the Landis Taipei Hotel as a Front Desk coordinator. Over the next seven years, he served in positions of increasing responsibility at Hotel ONE Taichung, Maple Garden Landis Resort and, again, as Rooms Division Senior Manager at the Landis Taipei Hotel. He helped the Landis achieve the top ranking for service quality from the SGS Group and Global View as well.
