Ellen L. Wouters promoted to General Manager for Marriott Port-au-Prince

The 175-room Marriott Port-au-Prince, a premier address for business and leisure hospitality in Haiti’s capital as well as the country’s newest hotel, has named Ellen L. Wouters as its new General Manager. In this capacity, Ms. Wouters holds ultimate responsibility for the full scope of hotel operations and financial performance, while also stewarding the property’s dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility program.

A native of Holland, Ms. Wouters brings more than 30 years of hotel management experience with Marriott International, Inc. to her new position.

“Having served as the first executive member of the pre-opening team here in Haiti, I’m particularly proud to take up the mantle of leadership and ensure that the Marriott Port-au-Prince continues to play a strong role in moving Haiti forward,” said Ms. Wouters.

Immediately prior to her promotion to General Manager, Ms. Wouters served as Director of Operations at the Marriott Port-au-Prince. In this role, she was instrumental in implementing the hotel’s dedicated local hiring practices and corporate social responsibility program.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Wouters has held progressively senior management positions at Marriott properties based in Aruba, Germany, Holland, Poland, and the U.K., earning Marriott International Manager of the Year and Associate of the Year awards during her time with the Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino and the Amsterdam Marriott, respectively.
