FRHI Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Ross Buchanan as General Manager of Swissôtel Sydney. With this promotion, Buchanan will be responsible for providing leadership and driving the performance of the 369-room flagship hotel in the Pacific region.
Buchanan joined FRHI Hotels & Resorts in February 2011 as Director of Revenue & Marketing at Swissôtel Sydney where he was promoted to Executive Assistant Manager/Director of Sales & Marketing in February 2013. Since March 2016, he held the position of Acting General Manager where his direction has been integral in the completion of the hotel’s multi-million dollar refurbishment.

A seasoned hotelier, Buchanan brings a wealth of operations and management experience. Prior to joining Swissôtel, he was with Sydney Marriot from 2008 to 2010 as the Director of Sales & Marketing. From 2006 to 2008, he was the opening Director of Sales & Marketing with Quay West Resort Magenta Shores and Magenta Shores Golf & Country Club. Buchanan has also held several progressive Sales & Marketing appointments in his career with Australian Airlines, SPHC Group (Parkroyal, Centra, Travelodge Hotels), Bass Hotels & Resorts (InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Hotels), Cypress Lakes Resort, Hunter Valley and Mirvac Hotels & Resorts.
Buchanan holds a Diploma in Tourism awarded by University of Technology, Sydney.
