French Leave Resort, managed by Shaner Hotels and the newest addition to Marriott’s Autograph Collection in the Caribbean, has announced the appointment of Jahmed Mills as General Manager for the resort.

Jahmed Mills comes to French Leave Resort after nearly five years in management at the Marriott Durham City Center, also managed by Shaner, where he quickly progressed from roles as a Front Desk Supervisor and Assistant Front Office Manager to Front Office Manager, before accepting his current position last month as General Manager at French Leave.

In his new role, Mills will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including the maximization of guest satisfaction, financial performance, and seamless transition to the Autograph Collection in November 2016, as well as the expansion from four to 12 villas by December of this year.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the last five years as part of the Shaner family, and am excited to continue my career with the company in this new position,” said Mills. “Having spent 13 years in the Virgin Islands, I have a keen understanding of the Caribbean market and look forward to playing a key role in the growth of French Leave.”

Throughout his career, Mills has proven his strong financial management and business acumen with positions at a boutique investment firm and as a Credit Manager at the Frenchman’s Reef Marriott, achieving top results. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Financial Management, as well as an MBA from the University of the Virgin Islands.

“We’re thrilled to have Mills’ leadership at French Leave Resort,” said Brian Hockenbury, Senior Vice President of Operations at Shaner Hotel Group. “I know his passion for leadership and strong financial background will be instrumental to French Leave Resort’s success.”
