Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa has announced a pair of senior management-level promotions for hospitality industry veterans Morty Valldejuli and Marti Trieschmann.
Recognizing their dedication, performance and ongoing contributions, Valldejuli and Trieschmann have been bestowed expanded roles at the Westin Grand Cayman and its sister property, Sunshine Suites Grand Cayman Island Resort.
Morty Valldejuli, Vice President Managing Director
Following four years of success as General Manager/Area Managing Director, Valldejuli has been promoted to Vice President Managing Director of Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa. In his new role, Valldejuli has oversight of other branded properties in the southern/Florida region of Pyramid Hotel Group, Manager of Westin Grand Cayman. Valldejuli will also manage the upcoming two-phase floor-to-ceiling redesign of the Westin Grand Cayman’s lobby, public spaces, guestrooms and recreation areas. He also oversees the property’s neighboring property, Sunshine Suites Resort.
With more than a quarter-century of experience at highly rated hotel and resort properties in the Gulf States and the Caribbean, Valldejuli originally joined Westin Grand Cayman in 2012 to oversee the completion of a multi-million-dollar renovation. He led the successful re-launch of the resort the following year, resulting in national acclaim for the renovation and the success of new and improved programs, including the pool and beach experience.
Valldejuli was also intricately involved in the rejuvenation of the resort’s dining operations, conceptualizing all four food and beverage outlets, including the rebranding of the four-star Beach House Restaurant. The resort was honored with a Best Food Award at the 2015 Cayman Taste Food Festival. Under his supervision, the resort also received the prestigious SPG Award 2013 for Best Beach Resort, as well as AAA Four Diamond Awards in 2014 and 2015.
In addition, Valldejuli has served as team leader in several hotel acquisitions and transitions for Pyramid Resort Group. He also served on the board of the Cayman Island Tourism Association and currently serves on the of the group’s Accommodations Division.
Valldejuli arrived in the picturesque Cayman Islands following two years as Area Managing Director and General Manager for Pyramid Hotel Group properties in the Greater New Orleans Area. Among his assignments were Maison Dupuy Hotel and Marriott Hotel Lakeway. During his tenure, Marriott Hotel Lakeway was honored with an AAA Four Diamond Award in 2011, while Maison Dupuy Hotel was voted “2011 Best Boutique Hotel in New Orleans” by National Geographic Traveler,and won “Best 2011 Urban Escape in New Orleans” from Fodor’s Choice Golf Award.
Born in New Jersey and raised between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Los Angeles, Valldejuli pursued undergraduate studies in Marketing and Economics at the University of Sacred Heart in San Juan. He will continue to reside on Grand Cayman with his wife, Anastasia, and son, Aleksander. Valldejuli also has a teenage daughter, Kathryn.
Marti Trieschmann, Area Director of Sales & Marketing
Following almost four years of success as Director of Sales & Marketing, for the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa, Marti Trieschmann has been promoted to Area Director of Sales & Marketing. In her new role, Trieschmann oversees all top line revenue efforts of the beachfront property and in addition, the newly acquired Sunshine Suites Resort, which includes its popular onsite restaurant, Sunshine Grill. Trieschmann oversees the group sales and marketing teams of each property, consisting of more than 12 hospitality professionals.
Prior to her 2012 arrival in Grand Cayman, Trieschmann was Area Director of Sales & Marketing for the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista, an Official Walt Disney World Resort. She oversaw all group, leisure and wholesale revenue generation. It was one of many management positions Trieschmann held over two-plus decades, including Director of Sales & Marketing of Star Plaza, a multi-dimensional property in Merrillville, Indiana, owned by White Lodging Services; Area Director of Sales of LXR Luxury Resorts, which had three luxury properties ranging from 300 to 600 rooms in Ft. Lauderdale; Director of Sales & Marketing of Hilton Indianapolis; and Director of Sales & Marketing of Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites. She began her career in Sales Administration at the Dayton/Montgomery County CVB in 1989.
Trieschmann has received frequent recognition for her talents, most recently as Sales Leader of the Year for White Lodging Services in 2011 and Hotel Sales Team of the Year for Pyramid Hotel Group in 2014. Actively involved in community events, she currently serves as Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Lake Buena Vista. Based in Florida, Trieschmann enjoys golf, traveling, and relaxing with her husband and family.
