Mr. Michael Parker has been appointed managing director of Rosewood Sanya, which will open early 2017 as the first China resort for the ultra-luxury Rosewood Hotels & Resorts brand.
A British native, Mr. Parker has 23 years hospitality experience and held senior hotel manager positions in both mainland China and the U.K., most recently as managing director at Banyan Tree Shanghai on the Bund, and previously with Wanda Hotels and Guoman Hotels, as well as at The Grosvenor Hotel in London.
Located amid 16 hectares of landscaped gardens in Haitang Bay of Southern Hainan Island, Rosewood Sanya will occupy 14 floors of an oceanfront building, featuring 246 ocean-facing guestrooms with one-third including balcony plunge pools. Five dining options will include a bistro, a lobby lounge, Sky Deck Pool Bar, Seafood Restaurant and Pool Bar & Grill. Facilities will encompass a spa, a children’s club, a fitness center in addition to a sky pool on the 13th floor and another swimming pool cascading to the edge of an expansive beach. Meeting venues will include The Pavilion residential-style meeting and function space.
Rosewood Sanya’s opening represents the collection’s second Asia resort joining Rosewood Phuket which is also set to debut in early 2017.
