Equinox has announced the appointment of Josh Wyatt as President of its burgeoning hotel business. Already internationally recognized for its commitment to innovative programming, member experience, luxury lifestyle and unparalleled design in 80 global locations, Equinox announced in 2015 that it would open its flagship hotel in 2019 in New York City.
Tasked with leading all facets of Equinox’s hospitality brand, Wyatt will oversee brand real estate operations, execute future growth strategy and manage guest experience across the portfolio, which is poised to grow to more than 50 hotels worldwide.
“With proven experience in growing every aspect of hospitality businesses, Josh understands firsthand that every decision ultimately impacts the guest,” said Harvey Spevak, CEO, Equinox. “Josh’s background will be instrumental as we usher Equinox into its next phase as a 360-degree lifestyle brand and redefine the meaning of ‘luxury hotel’ in key gateway cities worldwide.”
Conceived to offer an entirely new hotel experience that meets the needs of the high performance traveller, Equinox’s hotel properties will maintain its signature luxury aesthetic, unapologetic brand voice and commitment to science-grounded holistic health. The Hudson Yards location—the first in the portfolio—was designed with these specifications in mind by Yabu Pushelberg to create a modern haven for life maximization, and will include a 60,000 square-foot Equinox club on-site.
“When a company that is already so committed to an elevated experience offers you the chance to build a hotel brand that serves guests in revolutionary ways, it’s not something you can turn down,” said Josh Wyatt. “I am thrilled to join the larger Equinox family as we work on its mission of empowering people to maximize all aspects of their lives.”
Wyatt joins the team as an accomplished entrepreneur and investor who previously served as Partner and Senior Advisor at Patron Capital, where he created the company’s Hospitality and Leisure practice. Concurrent to his role with Patron, Wyatt was the Co-Owner and Chief Strategic Officer at Generator Hostels, where he expanded the concept to 10 countries, managing real estate, design and brand voice for all properties.
