The Set, the hotel collection behind Café Royal, London, Conservatorium, Amsterdam and the Lutetia, Paris is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Kochs as Managing Director for Café Royal. With Thomas comes a wealth of experience in luxury hospitality, most recently from some of London’s most renowned and notable hotels.
Thomas held the position of General Manager of Claridge’s part of Maybourne Hotel Group for the past five years, during which time he has continued to build upon the hotel’s heritage; developing and refining the hotels’ restaurant and bars including the acclaimed partnership with Chef Simon Rogan to bring ‘Fera’ to Claridge’s.
Thomas’ career with Maybourne Hotel Group spans 15 years during which time he has held Hotel Management positions in two of the company’s properties including the relaunch and opening of the Connaught.
The old and the new are notoriously difficult to blend successfully yet The Set creates a beauty out of tension, and strives to have the best of both worlds where heritage meets contemporaneity, this is why we say our hotels are ‘Beautifully Composed’. They are inspired by the artistic and imaginative heritage of their Grand Dame buildings and their iconic cultural city centre locations.
Thomas Kochs says “I am excited to be joining the team at Café Royal, one of the most beautiful buildings in London with fascinating heritage and history to work with. Café Royal is already ‘London’s Living Room’, a place for minds to come together and creativity to flourish, where guests can connect to and enjoy the hotel’s offering. Café Royal as a hotel is three years young and at this point is clearly ready to take the next step in its journey. There are exciting things to come, which I am thrilled to be a part of”.
Georgi Akirov, Chairman of The Set remarks “We are delighted and enthused for this latest appointment to our senior team at The Set hotels. We look forward to working with Thomas to continue our journey towards achieving our vision of creating stimulating and ‘beautifully composed’ experiences for our guests”.
