Jeff Stewart named General Manager of the Sheraton Madison Hotel

Marcus Hotels & Resorts has announced that Jeff Stewart has been appointed general manager of the Sheraton Madison hotel in Madison, Wis. The company also announced the addition of Alex Mabry as assistant director of sales and Kara Gugel as banquets manager for both the Hilton Madison and Sheraton Madison hotels.

Stewart joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2015 as hotel manager at the AAA-Four Diamond Hilton Milwaukee City Center in Milwaukee, Wis. He previously was director of operations at Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, where he served since 2007. Stewart began his hospitality career in 2000 with Hyatt Hotels Corporation at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. During his 15-year tenure with Hyatt, he held a variety of management roles in the areas of stewarding, restaurants and banquets at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, Hyatt Regency Chicago and Hyatt Regency Boston. Stewart has a bachelor’s degree in hospitality from Eastern Illinois University.

Mabry will be responsible for leading sales strategies and initiatives for the 240-room Hilton Madison hotel and 239-room Sheraton Madison hotel, overseeing all group room and business accounts focusing on the University of Wisconsin and State and Federal Government agencies. She joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2013 as corporate sales manager for the Heidel House Resort & Spa in Green Lake, Wis. Prior to this position she served as catering, sales and marketing manager for Oshkosh Country Club, in Oshkosh, Wis. Mabry has also held various sales and marketing positions throughout her career at several organizations including an Orlando, Fla. newspaper and food and beverage outlets located in the Orlando area. Mabry graduated from Valencia College in Orlando, Fla. with an associate degree in business management.

Gugel joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2014 as banquets supervisor for the Madison hotels and served as lead host for the Capitol ChopHouse. She then accepted the role as Manager in Training for the Hilton Madison hotel, where she spent time in various departments including event management, sales, and front desk. Gugel has a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and an event planning certification from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.
