Gary Sims named Managing Director of Omni La Costa Resort & Spa

Gary Sims has been named managing director of Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, the resort currently celebrating 50 years as California’s premier destination for mind, body and sport. With almost 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry working for notable brands worldwide, Sims will lead the 400-acre, 600-room property.

“We are pleased to welcome Gary Sims to the Omni team,” said Stephen Rosenstock, the executive vice president for Omni Hotels & Resorts. “He has a consistently proven track record of success, and we are confident that he is the perfect fit for our Omni La Costa property.”

Most recently, Sims served as senior vice president of operations for Pyramid Hotel Group since 2013. In this role, he oversaw a portfolio of eight resorts and hotels throughout the United States and Caribbean with revenues in excess of $350 million.

Sims also led La Quinta Resort & PGA West – a Waldorf Astoria Resort – as managing director of the 800-room property and golf complex. He was awarded Hilton Worldwide’s General Manager of the Year in 2012.

Gary was a senior leader at Starwood Hotels and Resorts for over 10 years as vice president of development, managing director of the Sheraton Hotels of NYC and general manager of the Westin Diplomat Resort in Florida.

Sims is a certified hotel administrator, and is on the board of directors for Here’s Help Miami and the Palms Springs CVB. He attended the University of Central Florida where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science.
